Coding Hub

Welcome to the Coding Hub for AA120Q! All of the coding materials for the course are hosted on the AA120Q GitHub repository, where you’ll find everything you need, including installation instructions, lecture notebooks, and assignments.

To help you get started, we’ve created a video walkthrough that guides you through the installation steps for Git and Julia. This video will show you how to set up your environment and use Plut to open the lecture and coding assignment notebooks.

Coding Lectures

The course includes five coding lectures designed to work through interactive Pluto notebooks. These lectures will guide you through foundational concepts and prepare you for the assignments. The notebooks and associated materials can be found in the Lectures Directory of the GitHub repository.

Coding Assignments

There are six coding assignments, also structured as Pluto notebooks, that will allow you to apply what you’ve learned in the lectures. The assignments are designed to reinforce key concepts and build your skills progressively. You can find these assignments in the Assignments Directory of the repository.

You will submit your assignments by exporting the completed notebooks as PDFs. Detailed instructions for exporting can be found both in the GitHub repository and within each assignment notebook. The notebooks are designed to provide feedback as you progress. When you successfully complete a milestone, the notebook will display a clear confirmation to guide you forward. Once exported, upload your PDFs to Gradescope for submission.

Tools and Setup

This course uses the Julia programming language. If you’re new to Julia, don’t worry! Detailed installation instructions for Git, Julia, and other necessary tools are available on the main page of the GitHub repository. Additionally, the first coding lecture will include an introduction to Julia, walking you through the basics to help you gain familiarity with the language as you begin the course.
